Sònia Muñoz is deputy chief of the Bilateral Surveillance and Review Division of the Monetary and Capital Markets Department at the IMF. Recently, she was the FSAP mission chief for Belarus and Bosnia and Herzegovina and deputy chief for the Japan, Kazakhstan and Argentina FSAPs. In more than 14 years at the Fund, Sònia has worked on financial sector issues in advanced and emerging markets in Europe, Asia, and Latin America and has been involved in surveillance and program missions. She has published on macroeconomics, financial issues, interconnectedness, and inflation targeting. She holds a PhD in Economics from the London School of Economics.
