Sarwat Jahan is an Economist in the Low-Income Countries Strategy Unit in IMF’s Strategy, Policy and Review Department. Her work focuses on several cross-country issues, including financial development, monetary policy, growth strategies, debt restructurings, openness of the capital account, and challenges facing small states. Her most recent country assignment was Myanmar, where she was responsible for the external sector and debt issues. Her previous assignment was in the Caribbean, including the Dominican Republic and St. Kitts and Nevis. Prior to joining the Fund, she worked at the World Bank and taught at Tufts University. She holds an undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Dhaka and a Ph.D in Economics from Cornell University.
