Oya Celasun is a Deputy Division Chief in the IMF’s Western Hemisphere Department. She is currently mission chief for Uruguay. She worked on the United States desk from 2008-12 and prior to that spent 6 years in the IMF’s Research Department. Her work has mainly focused on issues related to public debt sustainability, sovereign risk and corporate debt, inflation, and the costs of unpredictable aid flows in low-income countries.
