Mauricio Soto is an economist in the Expenditure Policy Division of the IMF’s Fiscal Affairs Department. He focuses on assessing the fiscal impact of social spending programs and works on a range of other expenditure policy issues. Before joining the IMF, he was a researcher on social security issues—first at the Center for Retirement Research at Boston College and most recently at The Urban Institute. He has published papers on retirement and labor markets.
