Klaus Hellwig is an economist at the IMF’s Asia Pacific Department. Since joining the IMF in 2014, he has been involved in the Fund’s surveillance and lending operations in Central and East Africa, the Caribbean, the Caucasus, and South Asia. He received his undergraduate education at the Universities of Bonn and Toulouse, a master ‘s degree from Universitat Pompeu Fabra, and a doctorate from New York University. His recent research focuses on fiscal policy and macroeconomic forecasting.
