Francisco Arizala is an Economist in the Regional Studies Division of the IMF’s African Department. In this position he has contributed to publications on regional spillovers, capital flows, economic growth, fluctuations in commodity prices, and fiscal policy. Previously, he worked in the IMF’s Western Hemisphere Department, and in the Research departments of the Inter-American Development Bank and the Latin American Reserves Fund where he focused on monetary policy, financial development, and debt sustainability. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Université Paris III Sorbonne Nouvelle, and Master degrees in Economics from University of Maryland and Universidad de los Andes.
