Fabio Cortes is an Economist in the IMF’s Monetary and Capital Markets Department. He contributes to the Global Financial Stability Report, and is a member of the IMF’s market surveillance team. His work has recently focused on market liquidity, asset management and policy recommendations for improving the resilience of market structures. Before joining the IMF, he was a portfolio manager of fund of hedge funds and mutual funds in London. Fabio started his career at the Bank of England, where he worked in the Financial Stability and Markets areas, publishing articles in the Bank’s Quarterly Bulletin and Financial Stability Review. He holds an MSc in Finance and Investment from Durham University and a BSc in Economics from the University of Navarra.
